Craig Applegath, the designer of the 105 story mass timber hybrid tower, discusses the “the fierce urgency of now” regarding climate change. What can architects and designers do to make a difference? Craig recounts how his architectural practice decided to focus on materials and that one of the best materials in the world is wood. The use of mass timber to date has been primarily in 1 – 6 story buildings but Craig walks us through his design of a 105 story hybrid mass timber building to illustrate the potential of mass timber in tall buildings.
